This holiday, in January I did the transcriptions for an investigation project. I think to write about this.
The interviewed was popular poets, they do “canto improvisado” or “paya” and some practice the “canto a lo divino” too. They are very interesting persons because your life is dedicated to practice this traditional art, and I admire to the payadores because they have an incredible capacity of improvisation. In the festivals or shows for example, they can to ask to public any sentence (in “octosÃlabo”) and they create a “décima” in this same moment!!
I’m very happy of to participate in this project because I can learn how this traditional art exist nowadays, in the voice of persons that practice it, and with the direct observation of festivals, I can learn about the public of this popular art too.
I think that the popular poetry is an important immaterial heritage for our country and for the society in general and so in this case is very interesting the point of view of the Sociology of Arts.
